Pre-Test Applications for 2022

Whitgift’s Pre-Test is open to students who will be in Year 6 in the Academic Year 2019/20 looking to enter Whitgift at 13+/ Year 9 in 2022. The ISEB (Independent Schools Examinations Board) Common Pre-Test will be taken in the Autumn Term of Year 6 at the boys’ current school. Results of the Pre-test will be reviewed and boys who perform well will be invited to sit the Whitgift examinations in early January 2020. Boys who are being considered for an offer will progress to the interview stage, which will also be held in January 2020. Offer letters will be sent out in February 2020. Boys with offers would then have a place for Year 9 in 2022 on the condition they continue to make satisfactory academic progress.

Boys offered places from the Pre-Test will be eligible to apply for Scholarships and Bursaries. Examinations and assessments for scholarships take place in January 2022 when the boys are in Year 8. Applications for these must be received by the end of November 2021.

Exam Concessions

The Whitgift Foundation pays particular regard to the Equality Act 2010 in ensuring that prospective students have equal opportunities when being considered for a place. If your son has special educational needs or a disability, please ensure that you make us aware at the point of application. Prospective students may be entitled to exam concessions and/or specific access arrangements, such as agreed additional time or the use of a laptop for entrance examinations. In these circumstances, we would ask for supporting evidence, to include any of the following:

  • A Statement of Need/ Educational Health Care Plan
  • An Educational Psychologist’s report (dated within the last two years)
  • A consultant’s letter

Plus, a supporting letter from the prospective student’s current school stating his existing examination concessions and usual way of working.

In fairness to all students sitting the Whitgift Entrance Examinations, our Head of Learning Support follows the JCQ guidelines, when allocating exam concessions.
