The basketball programme aims to provide an opportunity for individuals to be part of a team and develop a passion for an exciting, fast-paced and physically demanding sport where teamwork is more important than individual ability.

Training takes place before school, at lunchtime and after school, for both squad and open sessions.

The ever-increasing fixture card enables involvement in league, cup and friendly fixtures, played throughout the week and more recently over the weekend.

The passion and commitment from both coaching team and the pupils have resulted in numerous titles in local league and cup competitions (LISBA – London Independent Schools Association) across all age groups as well as reaching the final of the U19 national competition last season.

Old Whitgiftian Joshua Uduje and current Fifth Form pupil Myles Alcindor, have both represented Great Britain.

However, our biggest success is that basketball has become one of the fastest growing sports at Whitgift and we are extremely proud to see the number of enthusiastic pupils across all age groups increase year by year.
