Student Ambassadors
Study with Students from Whitgift and Croydon High Schools
Learning and spending time with British students of a similar age greatly accelerates the learning process, makes it more meaningful and leads to long-lasting friendships.
35 Student Ambassadors per week
We have an average of 35 Student Ambassadors each week during the Summer School, which means there is a ratio of one native English speaker to every three International students.
11-17 years old
We carefully review our student ambassador applications to make sure they match the age, enthusiasm and willingness to help our Summer School students learn English.
How does learning and spending time with Whitgift and Croydon High School students help my son/daughter learn English?
We encourage our Summer School students to communicate in English throughout their stay. To help achieve this aim, we carefully select boys from Whitgift School, and girls from our partner school Croydon High, to take part and encourage the use of English in the Summer School. This way, our Summer School students have a truly British educational experience.
The vast majority of International students keep in touch with their new English friends, meaning the English language learning continues well beyond the summer.
When are the Student Ambassadors with my son/daughter?
Student Ambassadors arrive at the Summer School at lunchtime each day they take part and join the Progressive Skills in Action sessions, afternoon activities/academies and evening activities as well as having lunch and dinner with our Summer School students.
Will there be Student Ambassadors who board at Whitgift School year-round?
Yes, we have some Student Ambassadors who are also boarders at Whitgift School during term time. They can share their experiences of what life is like at a leading UK boarding school.

"As an A-Level languages student, I found my two weeks as a Student Ambassador at the Whitgift Summer School particularly enriching because I had the opportunity to understand the process of learning a language. Also I made so many friends from across the globe, who I am still in touch with today"
Penelope, 15, Student Ambassador
"I met so many amazing people and friends with whom I am still in touch with, and my English improved so much. But not only that, my confidence has improved so much and my personality improved the best way possible."
Polina, 16, International Student
"I have made friends from South Korea to Spain. Some of those friends I'm still in contact with, and others have actually come to visit me in London."
