Ideally located near Central London, Whitgift School runs a successful Academic Summer Programme for students aged 11 - 16. Two different exciting and challenging courses are on offer: our extremely popular Intensive General English Course and a brand new Pre-IB Course.
Whether you wish to improve your speaking, reading, listening or writing, our intensive General English Course will help you achieve your goals. Classes are small with a maximum of 12 students in each tutor group, enabling each individual child’s academic progress to be monitored and developed carefully. We encourage parents to book early as this course is extremely popular.
For those boys and girls who plan to start IB diploma after the summer, we have the ultimate course that will prepare you and give you that extra head start when you return to school in September. With critical thinking skills development in English, Maths and Science and introductions to CAS to TOK embedded, you will have all the bases covered so that you leave Whitgift feeling inspired, fully prepared and confident to start your IB life when you return home.
Progressive Skills in Action
In the afternoons all visiting students benefit from having project-based lessons with Whitgift year-round pupils. These students, proudly known as 'Student Hosts', are pupils at Whitgift School and Old Palace of John Whitgift and also take part in the afternoon and evening activities. This means the international students socialise, speak and make friends (for life!) with members of the Whitgift Community - a truly unmatched educational experience!
At the end of each week, we send detailed reports to parents so that they are kept up to date with their child’s development during their time with us.
Academies & Activities
Whitgift Summer School is also about having fun and our incredible selection of Academies & Activities as well as evening activities means we have a rich co-curricular programme offering something for everyone! All our Academies are run by professional coaches and teachers, many of whom work at Whitgift during the school-year. For a complete list of our what we offer on our Activity Programme, please click here.
Finally, the students go on two excursions a week to some of the most famous tourist sights the South of England has to offer. For example, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, London Zoo, Hampton Court Palace, Brighton, Oxford, Cambridge, Harry Potter Studios, and Thorpe Park.
Set in beautiful parkland with a water garden featuring exotic ducks, flamingos and wallabies and with peacocks roaming freely around our stunning grounds, it is fair to say that all students benefit from the unique surrounding that is Whitgift School. Coupled with our modern boarding house and dedicated caring staff, students will be made to feel at home immediately.
We look forward to welcoming you!
